Gretchen may seem quiet, unassuming, and a bit shy at first glance, but as the Bo Diddley song points out “You can’t judge a book by looking at the cover.” When she opens her mouth to sing, be prepared to be surprised and delighted. Her soulful and satisfying voice can go from growling and gritty to sweet and soulful with ease.  Gretchen’s infectious smile, energetic stage presence and music has delighted audiences for over a decade. She has been fortunate to share the stage with some of the finest musicians in New England and the Mississippi Delta.

Gretchen and guitarist Tom Carroll, represented the Massachusetts Blues Society in the solo/duo category for the 32nd annual International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN. Gretchen was a co-founder and was the lead vocalist for the popular rhythm & blues band The Juke Joint 5 from 2008-2016.

In 2017, Gretchen departed the Juke Joint 5 to front her own group, The Gretchen Bostrom Band, which performs music influenced West Coast rhythm & blues, jump, swing, rockabilly, jazz and soul. The Gretchen Bostrom Band played at the North River Blues Festival in Marshfield in 2017 and will be appearing in more clubs, festivals, and other events in the coming year.

Gretchen and her former Juke Joint 5 bandmate (and former guitarist for J. B. Hutto & the New Hawks), Silvertone Steve, perform together as the acoustic duo “Silvertone & Ms. G”. They specialize in originals and covers of rock & roll, rhythm & blues, rockabilly, classic rock and soul music.
